Following the success of “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” another Korean drama is capturing the attention of global viewers: “The Divorce Insurance.”

Though it may not have the same cultural impact as its predecessor, this new series has charmed audiences with its blend of romance, humor, and a light-hearted tone. Adding to its appeal is a high-profile cast that includes Lee Dong-wook, Lee Joo-bin, Lee Kwang-soo, and Lee Da-hee.

Among the standout performances, Lee Da-hee shines as Jeon Na-rae a financial mathematician who views the world through the lens of investment. She plays the ex-wife and former boss of the male lead Noh Ki-jun (Lee Dong-wook), a thrice-divorced specialist in divorce insurance.

With her striking beauty, fashionable style, and a personality that’s both confident and endearingly eccentric, Jeon Na-rae leaves a strong impression. Despite being the secondary female lead, Lee D-hee’s commanding screen presence amplified by her 176 cm height often overshadows the main heroine played by Lee Joo-bin, who is notably shorter at 163 cm.

Born in 1985, Lee Da-hee began her entertainment career in 2002 as a model. Her tall stature and eye-catching visuals quickly earned her recognition in Korea’s fashion industry. Media reports suggest that she enhanced her looks through cosmetic procedures to achieve her current glamorous image.

Transitioning into acting, Lee Da-hee started with minor roles in popular dramas like “The Legend” (2007) and “Secret Love” (2013). Her breakout moment came in “I Can Hear Your Voice” (2013), where she played the sharp and determined prosecutor Seo Do-hyun.

While her height was an asset in modeling, it initially presented challenges in acting, particularly when casting male leads. Since Korean dramas often favor a height gap of around 10 cm between leads, it was difficult to find actors tall enough to pair with her. Without heels, her ideal on-screen partner would need to be at least 186 cm tall.

Her height also made weight management more demanding. “Because I’m tall and have broad shoulders, I appear larger when I gain weight,” Lee Da-hee once explained. “There’s a noticeable difference when I lose or gain a few kilos, so I’m constantly dieting to maintain a slimmer look.”

Despite these challenges, Lee Da-hee steadily built a successful acting career, eventually landing lead roles in “Love Is for Suckers” and “Island,” where she starred opposite K-pop stars Choi Siwon (Super Junior) and Cha Eun-woo (ASTRO). In “The Divorce Insurance,” she is finally matched with a co-star who equals her in height—Lee Kwang-soo, who stands at 193 cm.

Beyond acting, Lee Da-hee has become a beloved television host in South Korea. She has led major reality shows such as “Queendom,” “Road to Kingdom,” and “Single’s Inferno,” and has been a recurring MC for the Golden Disc Awards since 2020.
